MATERIALS
SPINNERIN Nylaine Germantown Knitting Worsted 4-oz. skeins--6(6-7-7)
1 pair each of needles Nos. 5 and 8
GAUGE: 5 sts=1 inch 6-1/2 rows=1 inch
PATTERN STITCH Multiple of 5 sts
Row 1: P1, *K1, sl 1 as to P with yarn in back, K1, P2; repeat from * across row, end P1 instead of P2. Row 2: K1, *P3, K2; repeat from * across row, end K1 instead of K2. Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.
BACK:
With No. 5 needles cast on 100(104-110-114) sts. Work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 2 inches inc 0(1-0-1) st in last row. Change to No. 8 needles and work in pattern on the 100(105-110-115) sts until back measures 16(16-16 1/2-16 1/2) inches including the ribbing. Armholes: Bind off 1 st at beg of next 18 rows; wok on the 82(87-92-97) sts until armhole measures straight up 8(8-8 1/2-8 1/2) inches inc 1(0-1-0) st in last row. Yoke: With No. 5 needles work in ribbing of K1, P1, end K1--reverse for wrong side; when there are 4 rows bind off 2 sts at beg of next 18 rows; 47(51-57-67) sts. Cast on 2 sts at beg of next 16 rows; work 4 rows on the 79(83-89-93) sts then bind off.
FRONT: Work the same as back.
SLEEVES:
With No. 5 needles, cast on 48(48-52-52) sts. Work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 6 inches inc 2(2-3-3) sts in last row--ribbing will be folded in half. Change to No. 8 needles and work in pattern inc 1 st each side every 6th row 15 times; work on 80(80-85-85) sts until sleeve measures 16-1/2(16 1/2-17-17) inches above ribbing. Cap: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows then bind off 1 st at beg of next 8 rows; 62(62-67-67) sts. Bind off alternately 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows and 3 sts at beg of following 2 rows 4 times then bind off remaining 22(22-27-27) sts.
FINISHING: Sew yoke seams along shaped edge on wrong side then fold in half and tack down on wrong side. Sew seams, set in sleeves; fold sleeve cuff in half and tack on wrong side.

Raglan Bulky Style No. 6050-Spinnerin Volume 150 (1961)
This pattern is based on vintage sizing guidelines, which may differ from modern sizing. Please look at the Sizing Guide for Spinnerin Vol. 150 for information.
These directions are for size 40. Changes for sizes 42, 44 and 46 are in parentheses.
MATERIALS
SPINNERIN Nylaine Quick-Knit, 2-oz skeins-13(14-15-15)
1 pair each of needles Nos. 6 and 10-1/2
GAUGE: 3-1/2 sts=1 inch 5 rows=1 inch
PATTERN STITCH a multiple of 2 sts plus 1
Rows 1 and 2: Knit. Row 3: *K1, P1; repeat from * across row, end K1. Row 4: *P1, K1; repeat from * across row, end P1. Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.
BACK: With No. 6 needles cast on 70(74-78-82) sts. Work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 3 inches inc 1 st in last row. Change to No. 10-1/2 needles and work in pattern until back measures 14(14-15-15) inches including the ribbing--end with Row 4. Raglan Shaping: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows; starting on next row and repeating every 4th row 5 times more, dec as follows: K1, K2 tog, work to last 3 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K1; 55(59-63-67) sts. Dec in same way every other row 18(20-20-22) times; bind off remaining 19(19-23-23) sts.
FRONT: Work same as back and when the 2 sts are bound off for armholes, bind off center 13(13-15-15) sts for Neck. Working on sts for one side continue to shape raglan to match back keeping neck edge straight; bind off last 3(3-4-4) sts. Work other side to correspond.
SLEEVES: With No. 6 needles, cast on 40(42-44-46) sts. Work in ribbing for 3 inches inc 1 st in last row. Change to No. 10-1/2 needles and work in pattern inc 1 st at each side every 6th row 8(9-10-11) times; work on the 57(61-65-69) sts until sleeve measures 18(18-19-19) inches including the ribbing. Shape Raglan same as for back; bind off last 5(5-9-9) sts.
FINISHING: Sew raglan, side and sleeve seams. Collar: With No. 6 needles, cast on 27(27-29-29) sts. Work in ribbing--every other row starts and ends with K1, every other with P1. When ribbing measures 3 inches inc 1 st, at edge to be sewn to sweater, every 2 inches 3 times; work on the 30(30-32-32) sts until collar is long enough to reach center back, place a marker then work other half to correspond; bind off in ribbing. Sew collar to sweater as shown.

MATERIALS
SPINNERIN Nylaine Germantown Knitting Worsted, 4-oz. skeins
Main Color-MC, 2 skeins
Color A, 1 skein
Color B, 1 skein
1 pair of needles No. 8
Steel crochet hook No.1
13 bobbins, 5 buttons
1 yard of 1-1/2 inch grosgrain ribbon
GAUGE: 5 sts=1 inch 7 rows=1 inch
NOTE 1: If necessary, change to larger or smaller needles to obtain the required stitch gauge.
NOTE 2: Wind 4 bobbins of MC, 3 bobbins of Color A, 6 bobbins of Color B. to avoid holes when changing colors, always pick up new color from underneath the color just used. Break off and rejoin bobbins when necessary.
PLAID PATTERN
Odd Rows, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17: K 8(10-12) MC, *2B, 4A, 2B, 10 MC; repeat from * once then end with 2B, 4A, 2B, 8(10-12) MC.
Even Rows, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16: P 8(10-12) MC, *2B, 4A, 2B, 10 MC; repeat from * once then end with 2B, 4A, 2B, 8(10-12) MC.
Row 18: With B Purl. Row 19: With B knit. Row 20: With B purl.

NOTE: Make buttonholes for boy on left front, for girl on right front. Make the front without buttonholes first.

Neck: Bind off 1 st at front edge every other row 13(13-14) times; work on the 16(17-17) sts until armhole measures same as for back. Shoulder: Bind off 8 sts from armhole edge once then bind off last 8(9-9) sts.
With pins, mark position of 5 buttons placing the first about 2-1/2 inches from lower edge and the last 1/2 inch below start of neck.
LEFT FRONT: Cast on 34(36-38) sts as follows: 2B, 4A, 2B, 10 MC, 2B, 4A, 2B, 8(10-12) MC. Work to correspond to right front making buttonholes opposite markers as follows: Starting at front edge, work 3 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end of row. Next row, cast on 2 sts over the bound-off sts.
SLEEVES: With MC, cast on 34(34-36) sts; work in stockinette-st for 6 rows. P next row to make a ridge for hemline. Continue in stockinette-st inc 1 st at each side every 6th row 7(8-9) times; work on the 48(50-54) sts until sleeve measures 10-1/2(11-12) inches from ridge. Cap: Bind off 3(3-4) sts at beg of next 2 rows then bind off 1 st at beg of next 20(22-24) rows; 22 sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 rows then bind off remaining 10 sts.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder, side and sleeve seams; set in sleeves. Turn up 3/4 inch hem on sweater and sew; turn up and sew sleeve hem. With matching colors work 2 rows of sc around neck edge; turn sc and sew on wrong side. Face front edges with ribbon, cut through buttonholes and sew around buttonholes.
